Cletus Morin

Obituary of Cletus Raymond Morin

Cletus Morin, of Bothell, WA passed away May 4, 2024 at the age of 94.

He was born in Slayton, Minnesota, on October 21, 1929 to parents Clarence and Ruby Dandurand Morin.  He grew up on the family farm near Currie, in Murray County, MN with his brothers and sister.  In 1951 he married Lavonne Foster, also of Murray County. During the Korean War, Cletus served in the US Army.  In 1960 he and his family moved to Washington State, and in 1965 the family moved to Bothell, WA where he spent most of his years.

His garden was a passion for Cletus where he grew hundreds of beautiful dahlias and gallons of strawberries every year.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren particularly loved to visit the miniature farm he created in the front yard, complete with barn, tractor and working duck pond.  While he was generally a quiet, gentle person, he was always quick to share plants and gardening advice with anyone who asked and loved to tell stories of growing up back on the farm.

He worked most of his life at Case Equipment Company as a mechanic until he retired.  After retiring, he was active with his church, St. Elizabeth Seton, helped out his neighbors, and continued enjoying his garden and his weekly bowling league up into his late 80s.

Cletus was preceded in death by his wife Lavonne and brother Vincent. He is survived by sister Azelda Erickson and brother Lloyd Morin, daughter Marne Carter of Bothell, son Greg Morin of Bellingham and son Randy Morin of Lopez Island; seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Knights of Columbus.
