Obituary for Clarann Lasic Ballard

Clarann Lasic Ballard, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday the 10th of April, 2018, at her home in Kenmore, WA.
Born November 26, 1933 in Superior, AZ, Clarann was a 1st-generation-American daughter of Antonia and Ilija Lasic, who had each immigrated to the U.S. from Croatia, in the early 1900's. She moved with her parents and older siblings (Jenny, Veronica, and William) to Oregon City, OR in the mid-1930's, where she graduated from Oregon City High School in 1952. She married, and after briefly living in Corvallis, OR, Westport, CT, and Newark, CA, Clarann and her growing family eventually moved to Edmonds, WA in late 1960, where she raised her three sons and two daughters.
During the 1970's and 1980's, Clarann worked for the Edmonds School District, followed by doing import/export work for Kalama Chemical, Inc. She moved to Seattle, WA after her children left for college, and then later to Kenmore, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Clarann was very proud of her Croatian heritage and was actively involved with the Northwest Croatian community. She was an avid traveler, and visited numerous foreign countries, in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Central America.
Clarann’s children and nine grandchildren brought her tremendous joy, and were the light of her life. Her warmth and love have been a constant and comforting presence for her family as they have navigated school, university and their professional lives. Clarann is survived by her children, Daniel Ballard, Matthew Ballard, Diane Timberlake (Todd), John Ballard (Amanda Sepe) and Maria Brennan (Steve). Her grandchildren are Mara Timberlake Loomb (Daniel), Anna Timberlake (Jacob), Clare Timberlake, Jane Timberlake, Matthew Brennan, William Brennan, Sofia Brennan, Maya Ballard and Nora Ballard.
Clarann will be greatly missed and never forgotten, by both her family and her very extensive group of friends and associates. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://alz.org), a cause she very strongly supported.
