Mountlake Terrace, Washington

Vance Evans was born May 4, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois; the son of Louise Evans and Bill Brown. His family included his sisters Vanessa, Verlyn and Fidelia, and brother Farou.

Vance grew up in Chicago, where he graduated from high school in 1971. He was raised in the Catholic faith.

Vance served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1978, some of that time in Vietnam. In 1979 he settled in Bremerton, Washington, after leaving the Navy.

Vance worked in construction; and since 2000 as a supervisor and head of security for the Salvation Army at William Booth Center. He was responsible for setting up severe weather shelters in several Seattle locations. He touched the lives of many people living on the street, but Vance credited the Salvation Army for giving him a sense of purpose in life.

In 2008 Vance married Tien Alyssa McCain of Mountlake Terrace, who grieves his loss, along with her extended family.

Vance was preceded in death by his mother Louise, twin sister Vanessa, and sister Verlyn. He is survived by sister Fidelia, brother Farou, ex-wife Myra (nee Jordan) and son Cyrano Dujuan Evans, ex-wife Elaine (nee Pappas) Evans and children Michael Vance and Olivia Rae Evans of Seattle.

Vance was loved by his many relatives, as well as friends too numerous to mention by name. His untimely death leaves a gap in many lives. Please honor Vance’s memory by helping and protecting those you love.
