Margaret Dean, 91, affectionately known to her great-grandchildren as GG, passed away peacefully on July 5th. An amazing woman – her sharp and focused mind dealt for many years with a failing body. She will be missed by all: her family and a special group of friends, most over 50 to 60 years and several going back to grade school days.
Margaret grew up in the Wallingford District of Seattle, graduated from Lincoln High and the University of Washington in 1941. She married WWII Marine Douglas. Together they lived, cried, loved and golfed for 45 years until Doug’s untimely death. Throughout her 24 years of widowhood, Margaret never lost her indomitable spirit. She spent her winters in Palm Desert, CA and her summers in Edmonds, WA.
She was equally known and respected for her competitive nature – both on the golf course and around the bridge table; and her gardening and artistic flower arranging abilities. A voracious reader, quick to laugh, never shy to express an opinion, she kept current to enable communications with all the age groups of her family.
Margaret is survived by a brother, two sons, two daughters-in-law, three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. The family will have a private memorial.
