Long time Edmonds resident Irene Swenson died on Wednesday June 23rd, 2010. Born at home in Mount Vernon. WA. in 1915 she moved to Seattle at the age of 15.
Irene, a 62 year Lake Ballinger waterfront resident died of heart and kidney failure. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Roy G. Thompson in 1964 and Nels E. Swenson in 1998. She is survived by her two sons: Garry R. Thompson and William A. Thompson both of Coupeville, WA. , her 6 grandsons and 12 Great grandchildren.
Irene was a fixture on Lake Ballinger since she, her husband Roy and two sons Garry and Bill moved from Seattle to Lake Ballinger in 1948. After surviving two husbands she lived on her own on the Lake well into her 90’s.
She will best be remembered for her generosity, home cooking, various hobbies and her ceramic shop ‘The Klay Koop’ she ran from her home for more than 30 years. Irene will be sorely missed by Family, Friends and Neighbors whom she loved dearly.
The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be sent in her name to the Cancer Fund or the Northwest Kidney Foundation.
