Kenneth Fearey Ficklin was born on June 10, 1919 and passed away on June 23, 2010.
Ken was born in Telluride, Colorado and moved with his family shortly thereafter to Spokane, Washington. He graduated from Lewis and Clark high school in 1937. After graduation, Ken became a pilot and enlisted in the navy in 1942. As a flight instructor, he was stationed in Texas and Pensacola, Florida. When WWII ended, Ken worked for the War Assets Administration and then returned to college, graduating from the University of Washington in 1949. After college, Ken joined Farmers Insurance Group where he worked as a claims manager until his retirement 35 years later.
Ken married Katherine Elizabeth Owens in 1942, raising their family in Oregon and Washington. Ken so loved the northwest that he once declined a promotion because it meant relocating his family to another region.
