Barbara Frances McMillan, 78, a lifelong resident of western Washington, passed on peacefully at her home in Edmonds on June 17, 2010. She was born on January 6, 1932, in Longview, Washington, the second of three daughters, to Lawrence R. and Helen E. Ruth of Castle Rock. She graduated from Kalama High School in 1950 and attended one year at Central Washington State College. She worked in retail sales and management at several local firms, including Frederick & Nelson and Doces Furniture. She was a member of the Driftwood Players in Edmonds for several years and an avid gardener. Her other interests included sewing, needlecraft, reading, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and she loved her pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene McMillan, and her sister Helen Jaeger. She is survived by her sister, Ethelyn Williamson and her family; her daughter Debra Faleide and husband Mark, daughter Dana Jacobs, and son Mitchel Jacobs and wife Holly; two grandchildren, Amy Mailloux and Joshua Faleide; and one great-granddaughter, Peyton Faleide. There will be a private memorial service at Beck’s Funeral Home in Edmonds. Barbara fought breast cancer for more than 35 years. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be sent to either the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or Providence Hospice of Seattle. The family would like to thank Barbara’s friends...
