Eugene Golob, Sr.
Gene passed away on January 7, 2010 in Shoreline, Washington.
Gene was born on December 23, 1914 in Livingston, Illinois to Martin Sr. and Julie Golob who were of Czechoslovakian descent.
Gene served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1936 to 1939 as well as in the Navy. He was a Chief Petty officer on the USS Champion as a mine sweeper.
After he served our country, Eugene worked as a ham radio operator and enjoyed spending time with his brothers playing in their band called “The Night Hawks.” Gene played the saxophone, clarinet and the organ.
In December of 1950 Gene married Elsa Skinner who preceded him in death in 2001.
Gene was a member of the North Seattle Lapidary Association, the National Mine Sweeping Association, and the Redeemer United Methodist Church of Kingston.
