    Wayne Fitzpatrick passed away on January 27, 2018 at age 92 surrounded by family. Born February 8, 1925, Wayne was raised on a farm in Kansas, Illinois. He joined the Army in 1943 and was deployed to World War II Europe between 1944 and 1946 with the 789th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge at age 19. In 1948, Wayne married Lenore Busching in Chicago, Illinois. They moved first to Portland, Oregon, had children, and then moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1959. Wayne had a long career in the transportation industry. He worked for Consolidated Freightways and Transportation Equipment Rentals initially as a mechanic, working his way up to Branch Manager, earning several performance awards along the way. In 1972, he joined Mainstem as a fleet manager, covering the western US and Canada until he retired. Wayne was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting; he fished annually with some of his buddies for more than 50 years. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, befriending everyone he met. Wayne loved to travel, often booking a triangle flight to Alaska, Hawaii, and San Francisco for business. In retirement, they traveled to Alaska, Canada, England, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, and more. Wayne excelled in woodworking, specializing in fine furniture.
