Roger Dalzell was born in Seattle on May 8, 1939 and God called him home on November 23, 2017.

He served the citizens of Edmonds for thirty-one years. His career began in the city Parks Department. Soon after, he signed on as a volunteer Reserve Police Officer. In 1986 he transferred to the Police Department to serve as the Crime Prevention Officer which he did until his retirement in 1996. He worked with the community on many different programs including the Neighborhood Block Watch areas, business crime prevention training, school patrol training and support, bicycle safety programs, and vacation house checks done by volunteers.  After his retirement from the city, his caring for his community did not stop.  He was a longtime member of the Edmonds Exchange Club, where he continued supporting the police department safety programs and donated countless hours volunteering for service projects. Shortly after his retirement, he was asked to work at the Burger King across from the high school during the school lunch breaks which he loved and continued doing for almost nineteen years. It gave him an opportunity to connect with and develop close relationships with many of the students, the staff and other community members.
