    Sandy moved to Seattle with her husband John Jessen in 1981.  They have been an integral part of the Lithuanian American community in Seattle ever since.  Sandy co-founded the “Tulpe Times”, Seattle’s monthly bilingual newsletter and taught Lithuanian Folkdance.  She and John danced and sang through the years, most recently participating in the 2016 International Lithuanian Folkdance Festival in Baltimore last summer.

    Sandy had a Master’s in Audiology and participated in ground-breaking research in the development and testing of Cochlear Implants at Virginia Mason Clinic in Seattle during the 1980’s.

    She and her mother made an epic journey to Lithuania in 1992 to bring home their beautiful adopted daughters. Tales of their harrowing adventure working through the crumbling Soviet system to get all the needed paperwork together to enable them all to pass through multiple boarders to get home are the makings of a movie.

    She was dedicated to providing her family with a healthy, nutritious diet and lifestyle, and loved her time working out to stay...
