    Shared Memories

Karen Anne Roberts, age 75, formerly of Bothell, WA passed away Monday, January 29, 2017 after a short struggle with lung cancer. She was born on August 2, 1941 in Albuquerque, NM, and a significant portion of her childhood was spent in Oak Harbor, Washington and Rocky Comfort, Missouri. After finishing college with a bachelor’s degree in Music from Drury College (Springfield, Missouri), she followed her parents back to Albuquerque, NM and worked as an elementary school teacher. In 1969, she married Dr. Arthur Paul Roberts (died 2008) and they had two beautiful children, Arthur and Emma, in 1970 and 1972, respectively. In 1973, she moved with her husband to Grafton, Massachusetts, to raise their children. Then, in 1985, she moved back to Albuquerque, NM, where she continued as an elementary school teacher and received graduate certification at the University of New Mexico. As a school teacher, she had many rewarding years teaching Native American children at the Pueblo Pintado community school (Cuba, NM) and retired in 1999. In 2000, she relocated to Bothell, WA to be closer to her children. In Bothell, Karen will remembered for enjoying gardening, reading, crafting, collecting stamps, and visiting for hours on her porch with her neighbors. Karen is survived by her children, Arthur and Emma Roberts, grandchildren, Ruby and Lorelei Wilson, and siblings, Jonette Whitney, Floyd Wilson and Joe Wilson....
