    Lois Juanita “Nita” Gienger was born on August 27th, 1923, in Pueblo Colorado. She was known to family and friends as Nita and was “Gram” to many. She passed away peacefully with family by her side, on April 17th, 2017. She was survived by brother Dale (Jackie) Rick her, daughter, Sharon (Ed) Axton, grand daughters, Khirstie (Joe) Engberg and Kashia (Jeff) Loth, Vicki (Kim) Nimmo, Missy (Ken) Wrynn, great grandchildren, Axia & Jaeger Engberg, Tara and Kevin Loth, Adam (Lisa) Nimmo, Hollie Nimmo, Ian and Evan Throckmorton and many nieces and nephews and her dearest friends, Jan O’Leary and Peg Schmidt.

    Nita was the oldest of 5 siblings, and was tough as nails. They moved from Pueblo Colorado to Ferndale, WA in 1931. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1941 and married Ernst Fredrick Gienger of Alberta, Canada on October 3rd the same year. She worked at Wallace Poultry, and as meat wrapper in the grocery industry. She modeled for Miller’s and Chaffee’s Department Stores in Everett, and also worked for TransAmerica Title, Gulf Oil and Tri-County Office supply.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either MADD of Whatcom County or Seattle Children’s Hospital, in honor of Lois “Nita” Gienger.
