    Shared Memories

Deacon Eamon Parsons, a resident of Kirkland, Washington passed away at age 96 on March 8, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Hindsdale, Illinois on August 26,1920 to William and Nora Parsons. Eamon grew up in Jamestown, North Dakota, graduating from St. John's Academy in 1938. Growing up in the Great Depression, he started working at twelve years of age, selling newspapers. He met a really nice gal, Doris and had eyes for her, but he told her she was too young for him, as she was 16 and he was 21. Love overcame the challenges and they married in 1945. He worked for the railroad, at Hanford Washington during WWII and numerous other jobs. An entrepreneur, he started and owned a number of business including landscaping, building rockeries and real estate investments.

Eamon entered the diaconate and graduated with the first class in 1975. He worked for decades at St. Brendan's church in Bothell and Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Havasu City, Arizona where he lived as a snowbird. He spent a considerable amount of time counseling and helping people with alcohol challenges.

With hearts for serving the Lord and people, Doris and he initiated a center at St. Alphonsus Church in Ballard, counseling people with alcohol abuse issues. Eamon ministered at St. Vincent de Paul as Spiritual Director in Washington and Arizona. He consistently visited the sick in hospitals until his last year of life. He was always active in the Knights of Columbus and Cursillo....
