    REMEMBERING BILL

    BILL HERB

    What stands out most when I think about Bill?  We always had fun!  Whether he was 6 years old or 60 years old, we always found a reason, wherever we went, to buy popcorn.  Riding the Edmonds ferry, going to the Milwaukee airport, driving around Stanley Park, at some point we each would end up munching on popcorn!

    But life was not easy for Bill.  Taken to St. Coletta’s in 1946, he must have had many lonely days.  The original ideas was that he would spend almost as much time at home in Vancouver as he did at St. Coletta’s in Wisconsin.  Mom was fighting mental illness and they could not find a decent place for Bill anywhere near Vancouver so they chose St. Coletta’s in Wisconsin, the state where Dad was born and raised.  But in 1958 it all fell apart with Mom having a complete mental collapse and Dad suddenly dying from cancer.  So...
