Don Navarre, 57, of Kirkland passed away January 19, 2014 after a courageous 9-year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Don was born May 22, 1956 in Monroe, MI. He was 10 when his family moved to Bellevue. Don graduated from Interlake High School and the University of Puget Sound with a bachelor's degree in business and finance.

Don was a true family man. He was devoted to his wife, Janet, and their four daughters. Don enjoyed family vacations in Chelan and spending time with his extended family. He took great pride in his home construction projects including building a two-story, gingerbread-trimmed Victorian playhouse for his girls. Don was also an avid collector and restorer of antique radios.

Another great love was Don’s second family: the fire service. He was hired in 1990 by the Mountlake Terrace Fire Department after serving five years as a volunteer firefighter in Kirkland. In Mountlake Terrace, Don rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain in 2002 after the Mountlake Terrace Fire Department consolidated with Snohomish County Fire District 1. In 2004, Don volunteered for paramedic school and graduated with the 30th Harborview Class of Medic One Paramedics. In recent years, Don embraced a new assignment in the Fire Prevention Division with the same dedication and devotion to community service he displayed...

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medic One Foundation, 325 Ninth Ave., MS359747, Seattle WA 98104; or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Firefighter Stair Climb, 123 NW 36th St #100, Seattle WA 98107
