    Bill Whalen was born April 24, 1930, Cody, Wyoming. Bill went to O’Dea high school for a year, and then moved back to Wyoming to Lovell High School, where he played sports and was on many state competing teams, prior to graduating in 1948. He went on to play football for the University of Washington for one year.

    Bill joined the National Guard in High school. And in 1950 he was surprised when he was called. He said, that “he thought the National Guard was only for high school.” Answering the call, he went to fight in the Korean War and joined the Wyoming National Guard 300th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, known as the “Cowboy Cannoneers”, Bill drove a fuel truck on the front lines. Returning home he continued his education at the University of Washington as a Delta Chi member and graduated in 1955, in Business Administration.

     

    Bill met and married the love of his life Barbara Thorp, August, 1955 and was blessed with nine children.

    Bill through the years worked for several companies. Cascade Distributors, Ramset, Cox Construction, and SECO. During those years the family spent two years in California where Bill worked for Ramset Winchester Western...
