On July 11, 2012, Isabel Claire Edwards Barney passed away peacefully at her home in Shoreline, Washington. She was 87. Mrs. Barney was the daughter of Ira Clair Edwards and Margaret Irene Campbell Edwards, of Indiana. She graduated from Indiana High School in 1943 and Indiana State Teachers College (now IUP) in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She taught at Har-Brack High School in Brackenridge, PA where she met John Barney. They were married on August 5, 1949.

In 1962, the Barney family moved to Hagerstown, Maryland. Mrs. Barney taught adult education classes at Hagerstown Junior College (now Hagerstown Community College) for many years, specializing in sewing and tailoring. She was head of the department before she retired from teaching. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, made countless hospital gowns for mission hospitals overseas, and met regularly with her prayer group. In 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Barney moved to Shoreline, WA. She enjoyed music, reading, travel, and doing crossword puzzles.
